Pumping
Frostings With A NEMO® BT Pump
"Recently I was
asked by one of my food customers to help solve one of their pumping problems.
This company does all of their mixing for frostings and various fillings
in 50-gallon mixing bowls. They then wheel the bowl to the conveyor lines
where they pump into a hopper. This keeps their cleaning to a minimum
since they don't have to flush pipe lines after every mix.
The pumps they have
been using are a Fedco piston style pump. The problems occur when product
gets in behind the pistons and sets up. They repair one or two of these
pumps a day, sometimes more; and have two maintenance workers dedicated
to these pumps alone.
I suggested using
a NETZSCH immersion style pump model 2NT20B. Equipped with an air motor,
they could mount it to their existing hoists, which they were doing with
the Fedco pumps. They were already using air so no new power requirements
were needed.
This company is extremely
happy with the performance of the NT series pump. It has run for three
months without any downtime for maintenance. They are planning on purchasing
six to eight more pumps within the next two months. Their maintenance
supervisor says the pumps will pay for themselves within three months
because the two maintenance workers will be dedicated to more important
projects in the plant."

letter, this food manufacturer has purchased an additional NM series BT
pump and has placed an order for four more BT pumps.
