Gypsum Application for NEMO®

A gypsum board plant recently opened in the southeastern region of the United States. This company provides the most advanced methods of manufacturing gypsum board. Running a single board line at 400 feet per minute, this plant can produce a capacity of 700 million square feet of gypsum board per year.

A distributor of NEMO® pumps in Tennessee was responsible for the hydraulic engineering of the wet end of the gypsum plant. This company was asked to supply pipes, valves, pumps, and instrumentation to meet the capacity and pressure requirements issued by the engineering staff.

Our distributor quoted NEMO® pumps as the progressing cavity pumps to complete 17 metering skid systems, which include flowmeters, valves, motors, gear reducers, and instrumentation. These pumping systems are used for transporting water and viscous chemicals such as soap, retarder, dispersants, and wax. A pulp made of paper slurry, water, starch, sugar, and clays is also being pumped through these skid systems.

For this site, NETZSCH supplied 20 progressing cavity pumps of the 30 pumps that completed the system requirements for this particular gypsum plant. A wide range of pumps were delivered by NETZSCH including two NM008BY03S12B and two NM011BY02S12B Mini Metering pumps. Three NM021SY02S12B, five NM038SY02S12B and six NM045SY02S12B pumps were added along with two NM076SY02S12B pumps to round out the impressive order for NEMO®.

This gypsum board plant has been in operation for eight months. To date, this plant has not had one issue arise relative to the performance of the NETZSCH pumps. NETZSCH spent hours preparing the initial quotation and many more hours responding to the many questions and requests for information.

NEMO's follow-up and service after the sale gives NETZSCH the professional edge and reputation that generates additional sales and market share.
